Farmers Markets

Sonoma County hosts numerous farmers markets, including the large, year-round Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market on Saturdays and Wednesdays at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, and seasonal markets like the Healdsburg Farmers' Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays (April-December), the Sonoma's Tuesday Night Market (May-September), and The Springs Community Farmers' Market on Sundays (mid-May-November). Different markets have varying dates, so check specific dates and times for your desired location, as market schedules are largely seasonal, with some operating year-round and others running from spring through fall or early winter.

Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market

Healdsburg Farmers' Market

  • When: Saturdays, 8:30 AM–12 PM (April 12–December 20, 2025).
  • Where: West Plaza Parking Lot (North and Vine), Healdsburg.
  • When: Tuesdays, 9 AM–12:30 PM (May 13–September 30, 2025).
  • Where: On the Plaza Downtown, Healdsburg. 

 

Sonoma's Tuesday Night Market

  • When: Tuesdays, 5–8 PM (May–September).
  • Where: Historic Sonoma Plaza. 

 

The Springs Community Farmers' Market (near Sonoma)

  • When: Sundays, 9 AM–1 PM (mid-May–November).
  • Where: Plaza off Highway 12. 

Favorite Hikes in Sonoma County

Trione-Annadel State Park: Explore over 5,000 acres of varied terrain, including oak woodlands, grasslands, and chaparral. The park is a great spot to see wildflowers in the spring and spot wildlife like deer and wild turkeys.

  • Lake Ilsanjo via Canyon and Spring Creek Trail: A moderately challenging 4.8-mile loop around the park's scenic lake, with opportunities for fishing (with a license).
  • Eastern Route Trail: For an Instagram-worthy trek, this 3.2-mile roundtrip trail takes you up a 1,000-foot hill and features a variety of wildflowers in the spring.
  • Cobblestone Trail: Starting from the Channel Drive entrance, this 4.6-mile loop (paired with Orchard Trail) climbs through forested areas to offer views of Sonoma Valley and Taylor Mountain.
  • Jenner Headlands Preserve: Take a guided 7-mile hike through areas not typically open to the public to see old-growth redwood trees. An easy 2-mile guided hike is also available to observe migrating raptors.
  • Bodega Bay Trailhead: Go on a "Beach Yoga Hike," an easy 2-mile coastal hike followed by a yoga session overlooking the ocean.
  • Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve: This park features a network of easy to moderate trails through grasslands and wetlands, with scenic views of the Russian River and Alexander Valley. Many trails are also dog-friendly.
  • Taylor Mountain Regional Park: Explore 1,100 acres of woods, creeks, and grasslands on trails of varying difficulty. The preserve also features picnic tables and is known for its resident cattle.
  • Petaluma River Park: Enjoy an easy, weekly 1.4-mile loop walk along the Petaluma River. Leashed dogs are welcome.
  • Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve: Wander through an enchanting forest filled with ancient and awe-inspiring redwood trees. Many trails are well-maintained and accessible, including flat loops for a more leisurely stroll. For a more challenging trek, explore the East Ridge Trail.
  • Jack London State Historic Park: Explore the historic trails of author Jack London, including his former ranch, forests, and the ruins of his "Wolf House". The Fern Lake Loop is a moderate 6-mile hike with a 600-foot elevation gain.
  • North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park: The North Slope Sonoma Mountain Trail is an 8-mile hike that rewards you with panoramic views of the Sonoma Valley and beyond. The 1,532-foot climb takes you through oak woodlands, meadows, and redwood groves.
  • Sugarloaf Ridge State Park: For a challenging but rewarding climb, hike to the summit of Bald Mountain for spectacular views from San Francisco to the Sierra Nevada mountains on a clear day. The park also features forests, creeks, and waterfalls.
  • Jenner Headlands Preserve: This coastal preserve offers a Full Moon Night Hike to Sentinel Point, where you can watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean and the moon rise over the mountains. 

Fall Festivals in Sonoma County

Fork'n Good Food Festival:

  • A food festival celebrating Sonoma County's culinary scene in Petaluma on Sunday, September 7, 2025. 

Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival:

  • A weekend festival in Sonoma featuring wine, music, food vendors, an artisan market, and grape stomps. Dates are in late September.

Harvest Festival at LandPaths' Bayer Farm:

An event for the community with booths including the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters, held at LandPaths' Bayer Farm in Santa Rosa on September 20, 2025.

Petaluma River Craft Beer Festival:

A festival in Petaluma featuring craft beers, food, and music on September 20, 2025.

Russian River PRIDE Parade and Festival:

A festive event with a parade, music, drag, magic, and food trucks on September 27, 2025.

Sonoma County Harvest Fair:

A multi-faceted event at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, including wine and professional food competitions, a Grand Tasting, and World Champion Grape Stomps. The main event is on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Shone Farm Fall Festival:

An outdoor, family-friendly event at Santa Rosa Junior College's Shone Farm, featuring animal meet-and-greets, u-pick pumpkins and apples, and a farm stand. This event is scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2025.
